I am on a natural cleaning kick these days and spring and summer cleaning is in full swing. I somehow seem to find things all over the house that have been seriously neglected on the cleaning front. That’s how I ran into my latest mini cleaning project, the dreaded microwave. It might not sound that bad, but there are certain things that just suck to clean. For me the microwave is one of them, it seems like no matter how careful I am in covering food before I reheat it I fail. Our microwave is eye level, which means the ceiling of the microwave is out of site. Even when I think it is clean, I end up finding crusted on mystery food every time duck down and look.
Scrubbing that food off is not pleasant. That’s when I found this tip/cleaning hack. Not only is it easy, but you don’t have to worry about getting all the chemicals out of the microwave before using it again. This is super simple and works like magic for getting that caked on food off. Anything that saves me time with cleaning is a winner in my book. Not to mention that the “ingredients” are things that I have at my house. No need to make a special trip to the store.
- 1 cup of water
- 1 lemon, sliced OR 3 tablespoons lemon juice.
- Heat a cup of water with sliced lemon or lemon juice in your dirty microwave for 1-2 minutes, you want the water to boil for approximately 20-30 seconds.
- This will loosen the hardened food that has caked onto the inside.
- After a quick wipe with a paper towel or sponge your microwave will look almost brand new.
Did you the this natural cleaning hack or do you have other natural cleaning tips that I should try? Leave me a comment and let me know.
